Before Anyone Walks Into the Room

Before Anyone Walks Into the Room

Good facilitation begins well before anyone enters the room.

In this FLCoP, we’ll explore what an emerging facilitator should think about when preparing for a session: understanding the purpose, clarifying the desired outcome, learning about the participants, choosing an appropriate process, preparing the physical or virtual environment, and thinking ahead about what might happen when the plan meets reality.

We’ll share practical approaches to preparation, hear what other facilitators do before a session, and consider some of the questions that can help you move from simply having an agenda to designing a conversation with purpose.

Whether you are preparing for your first workshop or looking to strengthen the way you already plan, bring along your own experiences, questions, and approaches to share.
